One of them is to place a nail or any other nail on the wall. On many occasions, we do it already resigned to the fact that a part of it will not survive, but here we have good news for you. Whether it’s for pictures, shelves or TV mounts, at some point, for sure, it will be necessary to nail something to the wall. Although it is a fairly easy task, it usually causes impotence that part of the wall always breaks when we try. 

Obviously, all the decoration that an ornament of these can provide is overshadowed when a crack or a mark is caused in the place where they were placed.

This is because we move the nail slightly when we hit it. It may also happen that we must repeat the process because we have done it wrong or because we are in the wrong place. However, there are ways around it. We explain them below.

1. Nail a lace with homemade elements

As we said, you can avoid damaging the wall when nailing with very basic resources. Here are some of them:

• Cardboard: You must drive the screw through the cardboard and place both against the wall. Once this is done, start hammering.
• With a hairpin: in the same way, the screw must be inserted per nail through the hairpin to hold it. Then choose the place and nail.
• Pliers:  the third option is similar to the previous ones. You should take the nail with the pliers to hold it firmly and then drive it in with firm blows with the hammer.

2. Use soap to nail a nail

This is an alternative that not many know about. If you smear the lace with soap, you can prevent it from breaking the wall when entering it. Before doing so, you have to clean the wall with a damp cloth to remove all the dirt on it.

3. Using paper to present the picture before nailing

Often times, cracks or marks in the wall arise from the need to make several attempts at nailing. These, in general, are due to the fact that we have not been satisfied with the location of the box or shelf.

To avoid these inconveniences, you can use wrapping paper. On it, draw the shape of the box with a pencil. Then, hang it on the wall and try the different placement options until you have one.

Once this is done, make a mark where you will drive the nail in and tape the paper to the wall. Finally, hammer and remove the paper.

Another way to do it is by using a wooden board that is not too wide, but capable of supporting the portraits you want to hang.

Drive the nails into the board and let the tip stick out so you can hang the portraits from them. In this way, you will only have to break the wall at a single point to place several paintings in your living room or bedroom.

4. Nail a lace with a cork

Cork is a material with thousands of uses. One of them, precisely, is to nail a nail without damaging the wall. This trick is especially recommended for thick and resistant walls.

Nailing them is very easy: you have to pierce the cork with the nail, first. Then hammer slowly and firmly on the head of the nail that should be sticking out. When you don’t see her anymore, keep hitting some more.

Once you reach the desired depth, remove the cork. You may not be able to remove it easily; use a cutter  (cutter) to trim parts of it until it falls apart. Thus, you will have the nail ready to support the weight you want.

Final tips for nailing

Nailing a nail without damaging the wall is no science, but it is always better to follow some basic tips. Here are some useful ones:

• The blow should be firm, but not too strong.
• Exert force with your forearm, not your wrist.
• Hold the hammer by the handle, not the head.
• Hold the nail with your fingers to make the first blows; once it is firm, you can release it.
